This book is just like a classic 80s horror flick. Loads of music & pop culture references. It’s got the beat. As a fan of movies like Evil Dead, I really enjoyed it. I got the VHS tape cover. Love it!
Check the trigger warnings before diving in. Could be a bit much for some. The story is all about a girl who’s possessed, and demons have a variety of unsavory interests.
I saw someone complain about the amount of gore in this… I’m guessing they’ve never watched an 80s movie with exorcism. There are a few intense scenes, it’s a friggin exorcism not a unicorn parade 😂
I really enjoyed the writing throughout. Only caught myself speed reading once, during all the Bible stuff in the exorcism. It’s repetitive. But that’s accurate so no big deal.
The last few pages brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful portrayal of what friendship as adults looks like sometimes.
I look forward to seeing the movie adaptation but also to reading what else this author creates!
